Federal Appropriations Alert: Contact Congress today!

As previously reported, the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Services Act (CAPTA) received a $10 million increase in the Senate Labor, Health and Human Services, Education and Related Agencies appropriation bill for FY 2019.

It's is important you contact Members of Congress to urge them to endorse the funding increase for the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA) State Grants contained in the Senate bill. While all Members of Congress need to hear about the importance of this funding stream, it is particularly important for those Members who are currently serving on the Committee on Appropriations. Those states are AL, AR, CA, CT, FL, HI, ID, IL, KS, LA, MA, MD, MO, MS, MI, NH, OK, OR, RI, SC, TN, WA, WI, andWV.

Please email Members of Congress today with sample messages attached using the instructions below! Even if you don’t have a Member on the Appropriations Committee, it is still important you participate! Thank you for your help getting this important message to Congress.

Instructions:
  1. Use the draft template to customize for your state.
  2. Use the House list and Senate list to find staff contact information for your Member of Congress and/or to find ALL Appropriations Committee staff.
  3. Copy and paste email addresses into an email with the scripted message and push send.
Helpful Tips
1. When writing to your Member of Congress, be sure to identify yourself as a constituent and as an affiliate of Prevent Child Abuse America.
2. Even if your state does not have a Member of Congress on the Appropriations Committee, it is important to contact the full committee. Not only do these Members represent their state and constituents, but they represent financial and policy decisions for the entire nation!
