Healthcare Literacy

March 2015 marked the 5 year anniversary of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). In those first five years, over 3.5 million Californians enrolled in new coverage options.

Now that so many new people have insurance, it's important to make sure they have the capacity to obtain, process, and understand basic health information and services to make appropriate health decisions. The following resources have been gathered as a resource to help increase your clients' healthcare literacy.

From Coverage to Care

From Coverage to Care is an initiative to help people with new healthcare coverage understand their benefits and connect to primary care and the preventive services that are right for them. View the resources section, order free printed materials, and be sure to view the booklet, "A Roadmap to Better Care and a Healthier You."

Empower Individuals to Make Health Happen In Their Communities

Health Happens Here is a new way of thinking about what makes a community healthy. It challenges us to look beyond doctor visits and diets to the root causes of good or poor health. It also reminds us that everyone has a role in making health happen in their own community. Find out more about Health Happens Here. If you are a CFRA member you can access Health Happens Here resources in CFRA's Member Forum.
