CAPTA Toolkit

Congress announced that a hearing on the Child Abuse Prevention & Treatment Act (CAPTA) will be held March 26, in the U.S. House Committee on Education and Labor, and we need your help.

The PCA America Public Policy Team has been meeting frequently with elected officials, federal agencies, and the National Child Abuse Coalition (NCAC) and the NCAC subcommittees dedicated to Title II, appropriations strategy, messaging, and campaign roll out. In collaboration with NCAC, we have developed messaging platforms that support our common goals of re-authorization, funding increases, and building up integrated prevention systems.

Please use the CAPTA toolkit to urge legislators in your state to:

  • Act now to reauthorize CAPTA
  • Increase CAPTA's funding to $1B annually, appropriating $500M to both Title I & II;
  • Prioritize Community-Based Child Abuse Prevention (CB-CAP) grants; and
  • Re-envision and modernize CAPTA by supporting policies that prioritize prevention and family strengthening strategies.
