The California FRC Landscape Analysis Project

In California, there are many FRCs throughout the state using various strategies to meet the unique needs of families and communities and a key asset in child abuse and neglect prevention. However, over time, stability of funding and statewide support for FRCs has fluctuated. There is little known about the FRCs that are not currently members of the CFRA network and their collective impact, range of services offered by FRCs and how extensively they are available in communities across the state. National guideposts of Family Resource Centers are the National Family Support Network and the Standards of Quality for Family Strengthening and Family Support, although these are just beginning to be fully implemented within the CFRA Network.

Understanding FRCs in California offer a broad range of supports, services and approaches to their communities, CFRA and Strategies TA are currently conducting a landscape analysis to better understand the approaches, availability, services, supports, stability and capacity of FRCs across the state and their potential role in statewide efforts for child abuse and neglect prevention.  The final report from the FRC Landscape Survey will serve as a resource to FRCs for advocacy, funding, and peer connections.

The final FRC Landscape Analysis Report is anticipated to be published in Spring 2025.

What is the FRC Landscape Survey?

The CA FRC Landscape Survey is funded by the Office of Child Abuse Prevention within the California Department of Social Services and the S.H. Cowell Foundation. It will consist of a brief FRC Finder Tool that will collect contact information for organizations that meet the definition of an FRC, with a follow up survey to FRCs that will collect data on the services, structure, and needs of FRCs across the state. The Landscape Survey is open for responses until January 31, 2025.

FRC Finder Tool

The FRC Finder Tool is a crucial part of our statewide effort to identify and map all Family Resource Centers (FRCs) in California. Your participation will help us create a comprehensive profile of the vital services these centers provide to families. Once the 24-25 Landscape Survey closes, the FRC Finder Tool will still be available for organizations to complete, as the information collected is extremely valuable for ongoing efforts beyond the initial analysis of the FRC landscape in CA.
